Twelve Days to Whisker Wonderland Chapter 2 - All Aboard

Chapter 2 – All Aboard:

“I have to step it up or I will miss the train to Whisker Wonderland” Chestnut exclaimed as he trotted through the new fallen snow towards Catnip Junction. Large puffs of smoke began to rise from the train’s smokestack, and a loud whistle filled the air. “All aboooooard!”  The conductor announced as he ushered the last few passengers into the train cars.

“I’m here, I’m here!” Chestnut cried.

“Welcome aboard young man, you just made it” replied the conductor. “I’m afraid we have a full train today” he continued.

“Oh no” exclaimed Chestnut “But I need to travel to Whisker Wonderland at the North Pole to visit my family for the holidays!” he continued.

“I have an idea; how would you like to join me in the engine car for your journey?” the conductor asked Chestnut.

“Wow, really?!?” Chestnut exclaimed, trying his best to contain his excitement.

“Yes, of course I would love the company. There is plenty of room in the control cab and even a cozy spacious bed in the nose where you can take naps when you get tired during the long journey!

Chestnut realized he was quite tired from his run to the station and could not help but let out a large yawn. “I think I will take a nap,” he said sleepily “but first I would like a soothing scratch on the Smokestack if that’s okay?”
 
“Of course, my friend” the conductor replied. “You have fun exploring while I get us moving towards the next station!”

And with that the conductor pushed several buttons and pulled a large lever on the control panel and the train lurched into motion. Chestnut curled into a ball and his eyes slowly closed. His purrs were so deep and content they were almost as loud as the train’s engine. “I can’t wait to see what adventures the next station has for me” he thought as he slowly fell asleep.
