Chapter 5 – Jingle Bell Jamboree:

The North Pole Express train ascended the west side of Gingerbread Mountain with a slow rhythmic chug. Chestnut was feeling especially drowsy after his long night at Peppermint Pass.

“The train engine almost sounds like a drum beat.” he thought thru a large yawn, “Why, it IS a drum beat! Look up ahead, there's music coming from that giant tent!”

The train pulled into a much smaller station than those before with a tiny sign indicating they were entering the town of Elfton.

“Welcome to Elfton,” a small white angora cat said to Chestnut as he leaped from the train. “Home of the North Pole Elves!"

"The same elves that help Santa make Christmas gifts?" asked Chestnut.

"That's correct," the angora confirmed, "The music you hear is coming from our monthly 'Jingle Bell Jamboree' - a celebration of the selection of each of Santa's new team of workers!"

"Look at their funny large hats!" Chestnut replied watching the line of elves enter the party tent, "So festive with their bright red and green fabric!"

"Not just festive," replied the angora, "They are made from special magic materials that instantly make the elves warm!" the Angora continued, "They are so warm, the cats of Elfton often have one in their homes to sleep in."

"How clever" Chestnut exclaimed "That would be perfect for my cousin Penny the Penguin Wrangler".

"Please take this hat for her" the angora replied, "I have another at home".

"Thank you!" replied Chestnut, "I wish I could stay longer but the train is leaving. Goodbye new friend!
