Chapter 5 – Star Summit:

“Huh? Are we there already?” mumbled Chestnut as the conductor gently awakened him.

“No, we are not at the next station, but we are at my favorite part of the long journey to Winter Wonderland.” the conductor explained. “Hurry, gather your coat and mittens and come with me, we only have a few minutes.”

The two cats slipped out the engine car’s side door into the dark night. The crisp winter air smelled fresh, and the clearing was so silent Chestnut swore he could almost hear the snow landing on the branches of the surrounding trees.

"I know you have grown tired and stressed from your journey, and I thought this might help.'" the conductor said as he stepped aside to reveal the most festively decorated signpost Chestnut had ever seen.

"Why look at this beautiful signpost" Chestnut exclaimed as he instinctually began scratching his front paws into the base. "The roping is so tight and the colors so bright, I can feel the stress of my journey melting away!"

The conductor chuckled "I thought you might like it, and that's not all," he replied, "look up!"

The sky was filled with a million bright glowing and twinkling stars - more than Chestnut ever thought could possibly exist.

"This quiet moment, the peace and tranquility - this is one of my favorite parts of the Christmas journey little one." the conductor said, "and I am glad I can share it with you."

The two cats sat silently for a few minutes basking in the glow of the stars above before heading back to the train - both feeling content and at peace.
