Chapter 7 – Elf Leg Trail:

The North wind howled and blew forceful gusts of snow against the Train Engine. Chestnut sat anxiously in the corner as he watched the conductor franticly pushing buttons on the engine’s control panel.

“This is the worst storm we’ve had in years!” the conductor said with a nervous laugh. "But the further down the mountain we go the more it is slowing down!"

Chestnut sprung to attention and exclaimed "Can you hear that? It sounds like meowing!"

Chestnut heroically sprung from the moving train towards the light in the distance, the meowing growing louder as he neared the twinkling glow. After what felt like an eternity, he entered a clearing lined with large festive elf legs and could just make out three tiny kittens.

"Hellooooo" called Chestnut.

"Hello" the lead kitten cried "Can you please help us; we're lost!"

"Of course!" replied our hero "My name is Chestnut, what are your names?"

"My name is Stan, and this is my sister Theresa..."

"It’s Tree!" Theresa interrupted bitterly.

"Tree" Stan continued "and this is Claws. We are triplets!"

"I'm glad I found you Stan, Tree and Claws" Chestnut said to the trio "That storm was intense!"

"Yes, thankfully we had the Elf Leg Trail to follow down the mountain!" Tree exclaimed. "The bright colors led the way through the storm and rubbing the warm fabric calmed us as we walked!"

"But now we must continue to Tinsel Town to find our mother." Claws added. "Can you help us?"

"I would be happy to!" Chestnut replied. "Come on, let's get you warmed up in the train!"
