Chapter 9 – A Warm Reunion:

“I think we are almost there,” Chestnut shouted to the kittens as they anxiously trotted ahead. “The map says Tinsel Tail Trail is just around the corner!”

“I hope so!” Claws replied. “My nose is so cold it feels like an icicle!”

“Look up ahead! I would know that sparkly glow anywhere!” Tree shouted with delight.

“Mamma! It’s you!” Stan cried.

The kitten triplets shifted their trot to a run at the sight of a beautiful red house in the shape of a present. The house looked warm and inviting with its glitter covered sides and festive bow adornment.

“My babies” their mother exclaimed, tears streaming from her eyes. “I have been so very worried about you all! How you survived the snowstorm on Gingerbread Mountain I cannot imagine!”

“This is Chestnut,” said Tree, "he rescued us from the storm and helped us get to you on the North Pole Express” she explained.

"Oh Chestnut!" the mother cried, pulling him into her arms and squeezing him so tightly he could see his exhaled breath. "I can't even think what would have happened to my kittens if you had not saved them! Please come inside our home!"

And with that Chestnut was whisked into the warmest, most cozy home he had ever seen. The cushion was warm and plush and the love Chestnut felt from the triplet's family was in abundance.

After several hours of celebration, it was time for Chestnut to head back to the train.

"Fairwell my new friends and thank you for the lovely evening - I will miss you Stan, Tree and Claws!"

"Goodbye" the triplets exclaimed.
