Chapter 14 – Home at Last:

Chestnut was nervous with anticipation of the train's arrival at Whisker Wonderland. "I am so excited to finally arrive home for the holidays! But the journey has been so long, what if everyone forgot I am coming?" he thought.

The conductor entered the engine car. "Only one moment and you will be home my young friend!" he exclaimed. "I am sure you are happy to see your family!"

"I am, but what if everyone forgot about my arrival?" Chestnut replied quietly.

"I do not think that is the case," the conductor answered, "Just look at the glow up ahead!"

Chestnut jumped atop the train's control panel and looked through the window. There he could see the Winter Wonderland Square lit brightly with twinkly lights and holiday decorations.

"Now arriving at our last stop - Whisker Wonderland Station!" the conductor announced merrily through the loudspeaker.

The wheels of the train had barely stopped before Chestnut leaped to the platform and began running towards the town square. With each leap he could see more clearly that not only had his family not forgotten his arrival but those he had met on his journey were here in Whisker Wonderland too!

"Welcome Home Chestnut!" his mother exclaimed, "We are so proud of you and happy you are home!"

"When we heard of all your adventures, we thought you might like to have some keepsakes from your journey!" his father added.

"The only thing I need for the holidays is the love I feel here with my family and friends!" Chestnut replied tearily. "Happy Holidays to you all!"
